Why it is prescribed:Acyclovir is an important advance in antiviral therapy. It is used for the treatment of Genital Herpes Simplex caused by virus.It is also used in the management of H.simplex encephalitis, H.simplex keratitis and chickenpox. It is used only by people with severe herpes infections because of possible adverse effects.

When it is to be taken:: Follow the instructions on your prescription carefully.Use this medication as soon as symptoms appear. This ointment is applied locally six times a day for ten days. This is effective only if started early. Late and severe cases should receive oral therapy. Severe cases may be treated parenterally.

Side Effects :Burning and stinging sensation are the topical adverse effects. Headache, nausea, malaise, rashes, sweating and fall in bloodpressure are commonly seen. Other Precautions :
